SolarEdge Leaving Australia: What It Means for Your Warranty and Support

SolarEdge is leaving Australia’s direct sales market, having advised Perth Solar Force that it is discontinuing its direct local sales and operations in Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately.

If you own a SolarEdge solar or battery system, you may understandably be wondering what this means for your warranty, technical support and future servicing.

The key message for existing customers is that SolarEdge has confirmed eligible products will remain covered by its warranty, subject to the applicable terms. However, the way customers and installers access support is changing.

Here is what has been announced, our experience leading up to this decision and where Western Australian homeowners can turn for help.

SolarEdge Exits Australian Market

What has SolarEdge announced?

In its communication to Perth Solar Force, SolarEdge confirmed it will:

  • Discontinue its direct local sales and operations in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Accept final purchase orders by 20 November 2026, with delivery no later than 18 December 2026.
  • Discontinue product certification renewals, active promotions and programs.
  • Move ongoing service and support to its International Tech Centre.

SolarEdge’s local representatives have also advised that they will remain available until late December to assist with the transition.

The announcement concerns SolarEdge’s Australian and New Zealand operations. It does not state that the company is closing globally.

A shock to the industry, but not entirely surprising

SolarEdge’s withdrawal is a significant development for the Australian solar industry. Based on our experience over the past 18 months, however, it is not entirely surprising.

When battery rebates launched on 1 July 2025, homeowners were eager to install batteries and make the most of the financial assistance available. Installers needed dependable product supply to meet that demand.

During this important period, our team experienced difficulties securing SolarEdge battery stock. Customers wanted to proceed, but availability restricted our ability to complete installations at the time they wanted them.

By the time stock became available, our confidence in recommending the range had been affected, and we had shifted towards alternative products.

Commissioning and technical support challenges

Supply was only part of the difficulty. On some SolarEdge installations, our team experienced challenging commissioning processes, repeated troubleshooting and delays obtaining the technical assistance needed to get systems operating correctly.

For installers working in Western Australia, the time difference also created frustrations. Our team experienced difficulties accessing support later in the WA working day when east coast support hours did not align with the assistance required on site.

These issues meant additional work for our installers and, in some cases, longer waits for customers. Our experience does not mean every SolarEdge system has problems. It does explain why our product recommendations changed and why this announcement, while significant, was not entirely unexpected.

What does SolarEdge leaving Australia mean for my warranty?

SolarEdge has stated that eligible products sold by SolarEdge before its final purchase deadline will remain covered by its warranty. The withdrawal from direct local operations does not automatically end your existing SolarEdge product warranty. Coverage remains subject to the terms applicable to your equipment.

The notification does not provide every detail about future replacement stock, claim processing times or how individual service visits will be managed. These will need to be confirmed with SolarEdge when a claim is assessed.

Keep the following information available to help with any future enquiry:

  • Your original purchase invoice and installation paperwork.
  • Inverter and battery model numbers and serial numbers.
  • Warranty documents and any warranty extension confirmation.
  • Details of faults, error messages and previous support cases.

How will SolarEdge support in Australia work?

The notification lists support hours as Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm local time. It does not specify how those hours will apply to Western Australian customers.

Should I replace my SolarEdge inverter or battery?

If your system is operating normally, this announcement alone is not a reason to replace it. Continue checking your monitoring app and raise any faults, unexpected reductions in solar production or battery performance concerns with your installer or service provider.

If you are considering expanding an existing SolarEdge system or adding a battery, seek advice before committing. Compatibility, stock availability and the certification status of the proposed equipment will need to be checked.

SolarEdge’s decision to discontinue certification renewals makes it particularly important to confirm the suitability of equipment for any proposed new installation or upgrade.
